Congratulations to all the Band kids for their first "All-Band" rehearsal yesterday! We spent time learning some rehearsal routine basics and everyone did a great job! Thanks to the teachers who let the students out of classes for this "pull-out" rehearsal. Our group is a mixture of beginners and experienced students and everyone is pulling together to make it work. Many students have never played under the baton of a conductor before. It is a new experience! We learned how to set-up, where to sit in a rehearsal, rest position, ready position, playing position, posture how to follow a down beat, how a conductor cues and cuts-off. We began a warm-up routine and started work on the first half of "Christmas Processional." This piece has entrances for various sections, not just "all in" kind of playing. So students are learning to count rest and make correct entrances. There is a lot to learn! We're doing it! GREAT JOB! Now go home and practice every day! Next "All-Band" will be on Wednesday, Nov. 9th! Be there! Concert is Dec 15th so keep up the good work!
